Following almost 12 months of development K&DFHS are pleased to announce a new Search Facility (available on a payment basis) for your ancestors who may be buried within the Keighley area since 1568. This facility is now being offered to all members and non-members on a payment basis.

As you are aware Malcolm, our National Burial Index (NBI) coordinator, has been collating records to be sent to the NBI for publication on a CD to be issued in the next few months. He has also been photographing memorial stones and currently has over 35,000 photos. Plans of graves have also been discovered for some burial grounds.

Recent free trials have resulted in many successful searches which has helped Family History researchers to break through their ‘brick wall’.

K&DFHS hope that this new facility will help you to move forward with your research.

The information that will be sent (if available) is as follows:-

You will be notified if a search has been successful and a request for payment will be sent via Paypal.   Once this payment has been received you will get an email with all the details available.

A request to find “Lydia” who was on a photograph (showing the top of a newly carved memorial stone only) resulted in the identification of Lydia and seven subsequent burials in the same grave spanning nearly 70 years.

A copy of the completed memorial stone was also sent to the enquirer.

She was found in Oxenhope Cemetery in 1903. Time taken was 30 minutes.

Similar success cannot be guaranteed but best efforts will be made to help.

The Database exceeds half a million records of which over 50% are burials (the most difficult to find) and at present covers the following areas :

  • Keighley
  • Haworth
  • Stanbury
  • Oxenhope
  • Denholme
  • Wilsden
  • Cullingworth
  • Bingley
  • Oakworth
  • Cross Hills
  • Sutton-in-Craven
  • Cononley
  • Bradley
  • Skipton
  • Silsden
  • Addingham
  • Ilkley
  • Trawden
  • Cowling

Many more burial records are being added allowing a widening of the area covered. There are also some Baptism and Marriage records available but this has not been a priority to this point.

Using the link below you will be able to send an email to Malcolm with details of who you are looking for.

  • A quick free search will be conducted to see if any records match your information
  • If a match is found, you will be sent payment details with instructions to pay through Pay Pal
  • Once the payment is received you will be sent an email containing the information held along with:
    • any other records identified as linked direct to the found record. i.e. people in the same grave, on the same monument or at the same property.
    • You will also be notified if a photograph is available to purchase.
  • It is hoped that your request will be completed within 24 hours.
  • If the information is still being added to the database, you will be notified when the records have been added.

On advice that information is available, the standard search fee will be £3.00 as set out on the last page of the journal.  The fees for the optional photos (where available) will be advised at the time.

Searches will be attempted using as little or as much detail as you are able to provide and where possible should include:
